Hi, I am trying to install 4.5 on a 4gig hdd. I boot up using the CD, all goes well, i get to the sysinstall main menu, and i carry on, i create partitions, 4 of them, one for /, one for /var, one for /usr/home, and one for swap (in that order). I then write the information, which all goes well. The problem comes in when i try and write the label information. I set it up as above. The error i get is the one below: <snip> Unable to swap to /dev/ad0s4b: Device not configured </snip> I push enter, to get to the next error <snip 2> Unable to make new root filesystem on /dev/ad0s1a Command returned status 1 </snip 2> In the debug screen, i get : <snip 3> DEBUG: Can't open PC-card controller /dev/card0 DEBUG: Scanning disk ad0 for root filesystem DEBUG: Scanning disk ad0 for swap partitions newfs: /dev/ad0s1a: 'a' partition is unavailable </snip 3> The hdd is fine, because just before i was gonna change it to bsd, i was using it in doze ... Just to make sure it wasnt the harddrive or the computer, i tried the 4gig hdd on 2 other computers plus i tried a 10gig on all 3. I then tried to install FreeBSD 4.3, and 4.4, all with the same error. What is strange is that i used the 10gig hdd as my main BSD drive for years, on one of the machines i tried?? Any help would be great Thanks Ian ------------------------- BOFH - Mom's Pharmacies Email - ian@cerebellum.za.net ------------------------- To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-questions" in the body of the message
