Hello. I'm trying to get a DOS program in the self-extracting
archive http://users.ox.ac.uk/~ayoung/GAS20/gas20dos.exe
to run on FreeBSD. I tried to use bochs and dosbox.

Bochs x86 Emulator 2.1 compiles wonderfuly in both 4.8 and 5.2, but
when I run it and choose option #5, I get the following message:
[MEM0 ] ROM: couldn't open ROM image file
        'file=/usr/local/share/bochs/VGABIOS-lgpl-latest'.
The file does exist, I have the correct permissions, and I've
even tried other VGABIOS files and I get a similar result. Any
ideas what I'm doing wrong?

DosBox v0.60 from the ports collection compiles well, the graphical
display comes up and I am able to mount the appropriate directory,
but when I execute "GAS.EXE" I get: "CPU:GRP5:Illegal Call  7"

Are there any other emulators that can execute older console-only
DOS programs like this one?

Cheers,

Clark
