Nah, there is one. But to confuse you, its *title* looks like an advanced
book. :) It is: Unix Shell Programming, by Stephen G. Kochan and Patrick H.
Wood.

It is not x86 specific, nor does it cover things like installing the
system. But once you have it installed, using Unix really is using a shell,
and this book explains it all.
