You can use the following without any patches:
ipfilter_flags="-6 -f /etc/ipf.rules6"
which means that ipf whill be invoked as:
ipf -f ${ipfilter_rules} -6 -f /etc/ipf.rules6
i.e. load ${ipfilter_rules} as IPv4 rules, then
switch to IPv6 and load /etc/ipf.rules6.
