Greetings BSDI Users:

You may remember my post to this forum a few months ago requesting feedback
on whether Raima should port our Velocis Database Server to BSDI. The
response was very enthusiastic, so we have decided to go ahead with the port.

I am pleased to announce that Velocis 1.4 will be available for shipment to
BSDI users on June 28th, 1996. A short description of the product follows.
If you are interested in further information, please feel free to browse our
web page at www.raima.com. Send me an email if you would like to
participate in the beta program or would like our literature package sent
out to you.

Velocis Database Server is a client/server database engine offering SQL,
ODBC and high performance through unique Raima features such as Server
Extensions and multiple APIs. In addition to the SQL API, Raima provides
its low-level "d_" C API, and an object-oriented interface. Velocis supports
databases created in the relational, pointer-based network, and combined
models. The Server Extension feature allows C and C++ code to be hosted
directly on the server, which cuts down network traffic and can greatly
improve application performance. Velocis is the engine in many well known
commercial applications including Atria ClearCASE, Cabletron Spectrum and
Cheyenne's ArcServe.

A special Velocis/Web Server interface will also be available soon.

Best Regards,

LS
