Just to verify what I think I know about SATA is that it will work like
a regular
ATA for Operating systems that don't support SATA correct? Does this
mean I still
need a chipset that is recognized by FreeBSD or will I be able to get
away with
working in a degraded mode?

I am planning hardware for my next system which has both SATA and
standard ATA
onboard just in case anyway.

Hey, if it doesn't work maybe I can help support it :)

Dave
