Warner, Quick correction to my last letter about this problem. After several reboots I have not been able to reproduce the ed0 timeouts when using a static IP. It does seem related to DHCP in some manner. Looks like I already have the latest pccard_ether, as my last cvsup didn't attempt to update it. Just thought you should know. Seems that side effects of this are worse than they appear. In doing some testing with and without the nic card inserted I've been running across some lockups on boot. Something about a page file not being readable, but since the system locks I couldn't get a copy of it all. This happened following my pulling the nic card out, booting, halting, reinstalling the card, then booting again. So far I've seen this twice, and each time it coincided with installing or removing the nic card. There doesn't appear to be any problems hot swapping the card, just the boot up from a power down. As you might imagine, this boot lockup forces an fsck on the next boot. After that, things appear to be okay. If there are any log files you'd like to see please let me know and I'll send them to you in a private mail.
