All other books seem to build correctly.  It's only the handbook that
falls over.  It stumples across a variety of signals, ranging from 4
over 10 through 11 (depending on the time of day, phase of the moon,
probably the ulimit setting).  No, the machine doesn't have broken RAM
:), it's my paywork workstation and usually runs with uptimes in the
range of several months.

Very strange.
