Warner,

  Looks like the latest changes were all good stuff.  I'm now able to halt 
and reboot normally.  Also, I'm no longer getting ed0 timeouts after a 
healthy bit of testing.
  From over here it looks like all the various buggies have been fixed.  You 
can cross Compaq Armada's with LinkSys PCMCIA cards off your list! :)
