I tried to connect two machines with a parallel cable. Some configuration files are as follows: In file /etc/rc.conf, add following lines: inetd_enable="YES" hostname="pc1.myhome.org" ifconfig_lp0="inet 192.168.1.1 192.168.1.2 netmask 255.255.255.0" In file /etc/hosts, add the following line: 192.168.1.1 pc1.myhome.org pc1 192.168.1.2 pc2.myhome.org pc2 Of course, I do this on both machines (with necessary changes). But ping won't work. I have done this with the same machines and cable many times before. Only this time, I am using 4.6-release. Anything changes in 4.6-release or am i missing something? Do I have to explicitly enable ICMP or what? Thanks for any suggestions. -Zhihui To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-questions" in the body of the message
