Greetings!
     As the subject line says, I'm stumped trying to fathom the
differences between these two functions.  Both *claim* to
report GMT yet it appears the time() implementation actually
reports local time.  This is on a 2.1R box.
     Have I missed something in the documentation?  I guess I'll
start poking through the library sources while you folks enjoy your
sleepy-time!  :>
