Roger Hardiman pointed me to the possibility of a motherboard related
problem and he was right. After replacing my old Chaintech 5IFM1 HX-based
board with a Tyan Trinity (Apollo chipset) it worked. It seems that the
HX thing wasn't able to transfer the data of the hauppauge card to
the memory fast enough.
