On my system sysctl -a | grep hw.bge.allow_asf gives me the value 0
hw.bge.allow_asf: 0

So it is off, I did try the patch from bz but it still hangs.
Maybe I did not apply it the right way, because I did it by hand.

can you provide me a patch file?
