I ran portupgrade with the -a option and everything seems to have run w/o incident. however, in the end, I got the following notices: ----------------------------- (snip) ---> Backing up the old version env: /usr/local/sbin/pkg_tarup: No such file or directory ** Backup failed. (snip) ---> Backing up the old version env: /usr/local/sbin/pkg_tarup: No such file or directory ** Backup failed. ** The following packages were not installed or upgraded (*:skipped / !:failed) ! converters/libiconv (libiconv-1.8_1) (backup error) ! net/ntp (ntp-4.1.1a_1) (backup error) ! lang/ruby (ruby-1.6.7.2002.09.12) (backup error) ! misc/help2man (help2man-1.26) (backup error) ! lang/ruby16-shim-ruby18 (ruby-shim-ruby18-1.7.3.2002.09.20) (backup error) ! print/freetype2 (freetype2-2.1.2) (backup error) ! sysutils/portupgrade (portupgrade-20020902) (backup error) ! x11/XFree86-4-libraries (XFree86-libraries-4.2.1_2) (backup error) ! net/tightvnc (tightvnc-1.2.6) (backup error) ! security/openssl (openssl-0.9.6g) (backup error) ! net/openldap2 (openldap-2.0.25_2) (backup error) ! www/apache13-modssl (apache+mod_ssl-1.3.27+2.8.11) (backup error) ! www/mozilla (mozilla-1.0.1,2) (backup error) ! mail/squirrelmail (squirrelmail-1.2.8) (backup error) -------------------- it seems that the cuplprit is pkg_tarup... is this correct? i've looked in the ports and in my system for this file, but i haven't been able to locate anything. is it more than just this file or is there more to why backups cannot be made? also, will there be a problem is these packages are not backedup? -Sameer __________________________________________________ Do you Yahoo!?
