Quoting Jesper Skriver (jesper@FreeBSD.ORG) from 19 April 2001: > I see massive packet loss towards ftp.freesoftware.com from hosts in > AS3292 (this test was performed from 195.249.6.93, a interface on > ftp.dk.FreeBSD.org), it seems that it appear in your network between .. > PS: This severy affect the ability to mirror ftp.FreeBSD.org on > ftp.dk.FreeBSD.org, do other of you mirror admin's have the > same problem ? Hello, I had noticed very poor connectivity to ftp.freebsd.org as well starting sometime during this last week. Previously I've been able to get speeds upwards of 600kbyte/s regularly on large files, but as of late I've been getting max speeds of ~40k/s with averages of < 5k/s (Normally averages range over 100k/s). This has definetly impacted my ability to mirror FreeBSD and I am curious to the problem as well. My traceroute and pings are included. The packet loss is noticeable and significant, but I'm not sure if I would go so far as to call it massive. Tests are from 128.10.252.10 (ftp.cerias.purdue.edu, ftp9.freebsd.org), AS17. Hope this is resolved soon, I've already been getting questions as to why my mirror is behind. -b raj@omelas:~ > /usr/sbin/traceroute -A ftp.freebsd.org traceroute to ftp.freesoftware.com (216.66.64.162), 30 hops max, 40 byte packets 1 cisco3.cerias.purdue.edu (128.10.252.1) [AS17] 1 ms 1 ms 1 ms 2 * cisco5.cs.purdue.edu (128.10.21.250) [AS17] 2 ms * 3 cisco-tel-242.tcom.purdue.edu (128.210.242.22) [AS17] 1 ms 2 ms 1 ms 4 Serial3-1-0.GW1.IND1.ALTER.NET (157.130.101.105) [AS701] 5 ms 4 ms 5 ms 5 121.at-1-0-0.XR1.CHI4.ALTER.NET (146.188.208.162) [AS702] 8 ms 7 ms 8 ms 6 295.at-1-0-0.XR1.CHI2.ALTER.NET (152.63.64.245) [AS701] 11 ms 11 ms 9 ms 7 0.so-2-1-0.XL1.CHI2.ALTER.NET (152.63.67.129) [AS701] 10 ms 10 ms 12 ms 8 POS6-0.BR5.CHI2.ALTER.NET (152.63.68.197) [AS701] 9 ms 10 ms 12 ms 9 atm3-0.core1.Chicago1.Level3.net (209.0.225.5) [(null)] 10 ms 15 ms 17 ms 10 so-0-0-0.mp1.NewYork1.level3.net (209.247.8.13) [(null)] 64 ms 40 ms 39 ms 11 so-0-0-0.mp1.NewYork1.level3.net (209.247.8.13) [(null)] 40 ms 40 ms 40 ms 12 pos8-0.core1.NewYork1.level3.net (209.247.10.34) [(null)] 40 ms 41 ms 39 ms 13 gigaethernet6-0.ipcolo1.NewYork1.Level3.net (209.244.12.42) [(null)] 37 ms 37 ms 39 ms 14 fa0-0.br1.nycmny.us.lightning.net (209.244.186.10) [(null)] 40 ms 40 ms 40 ms 15 a1-0-1.cr2.nycmny1.us.lightning.net (216.66.3.2) [AS6427] 79 ms 55 ms 50 ms 16 s7-1.br1.nycmny1.us.lightning.net (216.66.3.29) [AS6427] 53 ms 50 ms 59 ms 17 ftp.freesoftware.com (216.66.64.162) [AS6427] 64 ms 78 ms * raj@omelas:~ > ping -qc 100 209.244.186.10 PING 209.244.186.10 (209.244.186.10): 56 data bytes --- 209.244.186.10 ping statistics --- 100 packets transmitted, 100 packets received, 0% packet loss round-trip min/avg/max = 38.389/44.829/214.576 ms raj@omelas:~ > ping -qc 100 216.66.3.2 PING 216.66.3.2 (216.66.3.2): 56 data bytes --- 216.66.3.2 ping statistics --- 100 packets transmitted, 90 packets received, 10% packet loss round-trip min/avg/max = 46.781/86.462/355.151 ms raj@omelas:~ > ping -qc 100 ftp.freebsd.org PING ftp.freesoftware.com (216.66.64.162): 56 data bytes --- ftp.freesoftware.com ping statistics --- 100 packets transmitted, 85 packets received, 15% packet loss round-trip min/avg/max = 38.901/71.481/93.345 ms To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-hubs" in the body of the message
