Although Linux and FreeBSD are very similar, you should really ask a 
Linux mailinglist( that is if you really want to learn Linux).

In any case, there are several good sites that are aimed at newbies. 
Many of them are Linux oriented, but most of the information they 
provide will also be useful on FreeBSD. I have included some links 
below.
