I'm still using the 4.x series although there are many people already using the 5.x series. You might want to review: http://www.freebsd.org/releases/5.2.1R/early-adopter.html before making your final decision. Also note that 4.7-R is a bit old and that the latest release is 4.10-R. I'd recommend downloading the latest version since there have been some improvements and security enhancements since 4.7. If you want to go the 4.x route, then take a look at: http://www.freebsd.org/releases/4.10R/announce.html to get you going.
