I'd be happy with even the most cheesy of kludges, as one of these
days a Novatel Merlin is going to show up at my door and I'll be
paying monthly service changes whether I can use it or not.  In other
words, if it doesn't work by then, I'll be really motivated to hack on
it myself. :-)  Unfortunately I seem to lack the slightest hint of
free time.
