But in practical we generally deal only with port-packages e.g pkg delete -a. It is some time required to clean the system without touching the base and install prime packages from a file. During minor and major upgrade of system manual editing and use of $ABI are required. But freebsd-update -r release ( to Target for upgrade ) was a good option. In that/other case it may be a good idea to have a scope to select a desired repository like above or as pkg remove(upgrade) -a -r 'FreeBSD'. Regards.
