After a discussion at ports-jp ML, the following idea(plan) is suggested.
emacs-19.x port -> obsolete [If required, editors/emacs19]
emacs-20.x port -> editors/emacs(-stable?)
emacs-21.x port -> editors/emacs-devel
1. we only use portname with (major-)version as an obsolete version port.
2. -stable and -devel ports have its own history.
Do not repo-copy from -devel to -stable, and vice versa.
3. When major-version shifting, for example,
Before: editors/emacs(-stable) (for emacs-20.x)
editors/emacs-devel (for emacs-21.x)
After: editors/emacs(-stable) (for emacs-21.x)
editors/emacs-devel (for emacs-22.x)
we only apply diffs between editors/emacs20 and editors/emacs-devel
to editors/emacs port.
4. After the above major-version shifting,
if we want to leave a port for emacs-20.x,
do repo-copy portname with major-version.
For exmaple,
Before: editors/emacs(-stable) (for emacs-20.x)
editors/emacs-devel (for emacs-21.x)
After: editors/emacs20 (for emacs-20.x)
editors/emacs(-stable) (for emacs-21.x)
editors/emacs-devel (for emacs-22.x)
