Some thoughts: 1. Try a different USB stick on the same box. If the behavior is the same then the box is suspected. Then try fresh install of FreeBSD. Try different BIOS version. Try another trusted box (known good). 2. Try the USB stick on a trusted box. If the behavior is the same then the stick is suspected.
