This might be CUPS, or one of the GNOME CUPS pieces. They provide that nice list of available printers. I would see if other non-GNOME CUPS-enabled applications produce the same margin. If so, then it's probably a CUPS problem. If not, then it could be a bug with libgnomeprint's CUPS support. If the latter, I recommend opening a Bugzilla bug unless one of the FreeBSD GNOME CUPS users wants to step up and look at this.
