Look for c:\windows\HOSTS.sam, edit it with notepad and save it as HOSTS. You will probably have to rename it from HOSTS.txt to HOSTS after you save it, since windows is retarded. I have a home network here, and I have never bothered to set up DNS for it. The entries don't change, so there is really no point. DNS is very difficult to get right, very easy to get wrong (in ways that are totally non-obvious) and really isn't worth it for what you want to do.
