  this code since 1989, and it is suffering badly from bit rot. We have just
  about the whole eBones source in our tree now, and anything else just needs
  the headers.

In this one particular case, I happen to agree with and support Mark's
decision to do this.  I think everyone knows how strongly I feel about
NOT screwing up other people's code because of integration pains.

Well, in this case, it's -our- code (until we do K5).
