I'm guessing you were bitten by upgrading and having had all your
ports' rc files rendered useless.
A PORTREVISION bump would have meant a hell of a load on the package
building machines, as well as necessitating a reinstall of many ports
that would be pointless to most people.
The 20120114 entry in /usr/src/UPDATING addresses this issue for
people running CURRENT.
