I appreciate Tim's "ranting" as = there was so much valuable information in the reactions! I want to tell = (only once) how grateful I am for all the help offered in this group. Some weeks ago I put FreeBSD on an old PC and I was impressed with the = ease of installation. A typical Windows installation took more time. To = be honest, I just installed the base system and Samba, because we need = that in our business to get rid of our old Novell server. Now I'm = happily Samba-ing and Telnetting and I love it. Now my questions: 1. I have a lot of experience with DOS C application development (Raima = Data Manager and C-Scape windowing library). After experimenting with = Delphi and VBasic I definitely decided I do NOT want to program for = Windows. So, if anybody can just put me on the right track to a good = database system and a development system it would help me very much. 2. My test server just has 1Mb of disk and 32 Mb memory and P233, I = suppose this is not enough to set up X-windows comfortably. Any = suggestions? Upgrade the server, get another machine? nora.schram@planet.nl ------=_NextPart_000_005B_01C1B61A.4F6664C0 Content-Type: text/html; charset="iso-8859-1" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN"> <HTML><HEAD> <META http-equiv=3DContent-Type content=3D"text/html; = charset=3Diso-8859-1"> <META content=3D"MSHTML 6.00.2600.0" name=3DGENERATOR> <STYLE></STYLE> </HEAD> <BODY bgColor=3D#ffffff> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2>Hello all,</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2></FONT> </DIV> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2>This is my first posting in this group. = I=20 appreciate Tim's "ranting" as there was so much valuable information in = the=20 reactions!
