After seeing that message (I now reply to) I tried an ISP e-mail address
I have. Nothing came back, suggesting a few things including this.

FreeBSD's system is deleting a "www." and then using information after
that step.

research@ijs.co.nz
  -> 202.89.128.19
  -> www.qsi.net.nz
  -> qsi.net.nz
  -> No IP number

It might have started when my ISP disabled some of the lookups. I don't
know.

-----------------------------------
http://network-tools.com/default.asp?prog=express&Netnic=whois.arin.net&host=ijs.co.nz

IP address: 202.89.128.19
Host name: ijs.co.nz
Alias: www.qsi.net.nz

-----------------------------------
http://network-tools.com/default.asp?prog=express&Netnic=whois.arin.net&host=202.89.128.19

IP address: 202.89.128.19
Host name: www.qsi.net.nz

-----------------------------------

Now I arbitrarily strip off the "www.":

http://network-tools.com/default.asp?prog=express&Netnic=whois.arin.net&host=qsi.net.nz

Error: Host not found
Host name: qsi.net.nz

I hadn't noticed that my ISP has new hostnames that don't have IP
numbers

-----------------------------------

So it could be a
   "DNS lookups on unnecessarily edited hostnames fail"
type of problem.

The tests I was doing and did today, was to send e-mail to:

The mail was sent from:

    <majordomo@freebsd.org>    <-- mail came back
    <research@ijs.co.nz> <-- mail did not come back

My ISP's DNS server: soa1.qsi.net.nz

It is too early for me to comment on that (e.g. it still seems that
FreeBSD is losing the e-mail.

I request that your name go onto the bug reporting webpage.

To disable an attack might require, e.g. that the user copy off
letters or digits, from a GIF showing into a form.

I am guessing that it is easier to write software to delete the effect
of an attack.
