I have FreeBSD 4.8 release fully hang on the first and subsequent
reboot after a default install on a HP Netserver E60 (dual processor
ready but with a single PIII 550), with a HP NetRAID SCSI Controller
(/dev/amrd). This hapens with the GENERIC kernel.

It has been working fine for the nearly two years with 4.3 through
4.7! I'm stunned!

latest lines from the boot sequence:

   avail memory = 320806912 (313288K bytes)
Preloaded elf kernel "kernel" at 0xc051d000.
   Preloaded userconfig_script "/boot/kernel.conf" at 0xc051da08.
   Pentium Pro MTRR support enabled
   md0: Malloc disk
   Using $PIR table, 11 entries at 0xc00fdf10
   npx0: <math processor> on motherboard
   npx0: INT 16 interface
   pcib0: <Intel 82443BX (440 BX) host to PCI bridge> on motherboard
   pci0: <PCI bus> on pcib0
   agp0: <Intel 82443BX (440 BX) host to PCI bridge> mem 0-0xfffffff at
device 0.0 on pci0

after that, the machine is frozen and has to be cold reset.

So I reinstalled 4.7 just to see the difference. The corresponding
lines from 4.7:

   pcib0: <Intel 82443BX (440 BX) host to PCI bridge> on motherboard
   pci0: <PCI bus> on pcib0
   pcib1: <Intel 82443BX (440 BX) PCI-PCI (AGP) bridge> at device 1.0
on pci0
   pci1: <PCI bus> on pcib1
   pci1: <ATI Mach64-GZ graphics accelerator> at 0.0
   ..... everything normal after that

So what is this new agp driver that seems to hang everything?

help greatly appreciated!

Raphael
