I am wondering if its the one motherboard.  I just tried the same thing on 
another system with identical setup and its fine.  The problem seems to 
follow the motherboard, so for now I will chalk it up to faulty hardware. 
We changed everything (CPU, Power, RAM etc) and the problem followed the MB.
