I'm sorry to say, but AFAIK, this is impossible, and even if it *is* actually happening, it's nothing to do with ppp :-( That's what I thought, too. I added a ppp.linkup per your conversation with Nate, and everything now appears to work fine. I do not really understand why this is the case. Could it be that the default route entry got stuck with an old version of the interface pointer, and that was what was polluting the outgoing packets? Thanks for the help, Brian (and Nate (-: ).
