It's a common perception and one that's wrong.

	a b c: d
		foo

is a shorthand for

	a: d
		foo

	b: d
		foo

	c: d
		foo

Since most make variants only look at the timestamp one can avoid
building a, b, and c thrice by enforcing an ordering. Make variants
like clearmake may not be tricked that easily, because they keep
track of much more.
