For writing you can get one from me. It is native FreeBSD :-). Tell
me if you want it and I'll send it to you in private mail (I don't
want to spoil this list with it :-)).

For reading: I don't think this is possible. Ask Seagate for an
update; tell them that you see big differences between the two
versions and they'll send you the newest one.

I have updated a ST318404LW with it successfully. Seagate usually
puts a 80 byte header in front of the actual fw image. My software
tries to detect this but you never can be sure. If you want, you
can send me the new fw file and I'll have a quick look at it.
