Two machines freshly cvsupped with 5-Stable to the same level. Generic Computer Athlon XP Barton 3000, 512M, 80G 7200 RPM drive make buildworld 1928 seconds 32.13 minutes make buildkernel 449 seconds 7.48 minutes make installworld 16 seconds Thinkpad T42 Pentium M 1.7GHz, 512M, 40G 7200 RPM drive, AC power make buildworld 1838 seconds 30.63 minutes make buildkernel 421 seconds 7.02 minutes make installworld 17 seconds So the little notebook is noticeably faster than the power tower. But to make up for the difference, the tower has a serial port! And four--FOUR!--loud fans! -Warren Block * Rapid City, South Dakota USA
