How do I boot FreeBSD and Linux from LILO? Theoretically you should be able to boot FreeBSD from LILO by treating it as a DOS-style operating system, but I haven't been able to get it ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ to work. If you put LILO at the start of your Linux boot partition instead of in the MBR, you can boot LILO from the FreeBSD boot manager. This is what I do. ---- But we can get it to work. >How-To-Repeat: >Fix: If you have installed LILO in the MBR and want to boot FreeBSD from it, just follow the instructions for booting non-Linux operating system (foreign operating system). Note that you need to add ``loader = /boot/any_d.b'' or ``loader = /boot/chain.b'' to the entry for FreeBSD in /etc/lilo.conf if the FreeBSD boot partition is not in the first disk. If you get a failure in loading FreeBSD kernel and therefore can not boot up, you should specify the BIOS drive number and boot drive at the Boot: prompt like `1:sd(0,a)/kernel', or configure /boot.config properly (2.2.5R or later).
