  set "relayhost = external.smtp.xxx"

retrieving POP3 'to' the FreeBSD box: setup will depend upon your
  email client

retrieving POP3 'from' the FreeBSD box: setup will depend upon the
  POP3 server you use, ports collection has a bunch of them
