I've put up another kernel at www.freebsd.org/~grehan/kernel.kauai which contains an updated kauai/ata driver. The source for this is ata_kauai.c in the same dir as above. With some luck this should probe correctly. I included Suleiman's intr_machdep.c workaround in the kernel in case that was the issue with machines not getting to init. later, Peter.
