This actually surprises me unless your Fortran code is using some
nonstandard extensions to Fortran 77.  What does /usr/ports/devel/ftnchek
say about yor codes.

Indeed, I recommend that we (as community) try to keep somewhat current
with egcs in the ports because development of g77 is done primarily
within egcs now.
