Is ppp still active in the background? What does 'ps ax | grep ppp'
return?
I used to kill ppp using a "hangup" python script:
#!/usr/local/bin/python
# /usr/local/bin/hangup.py
import os, string, sys
a = 'ps ax | grep ppp'
b = os.popen(a).readlines()
c = b[0]
d = string.split(c)
os.popen('kill ' + d[0])
