I've had too many Quantums (in particular 4GB Atlases (XP34300 and XP34300W) fail in short periods of time (and I know of other cases of this happening)). I'd recommend IBM drives; while they're probably slightly more expensive than Quantum drives the performance is as good (if not better) and they seem far less prone to overheating. You may also consider using multiple 5400RPM drives (such as 2GB IBM's) with ccd.
