I assume you're refering to the "nv" driver. You'll need a newer server as the "nv" driver didn't support DVI in any of the official XFree86 versions. Try one of the 4.2.99.x snapshots on ftp.xfree86.org and put Option "FlatPanel" in the Section "Device" of the XF86Config file. Mark.
