Driver qualitity is also different for XFree86 3.3.x series and 4.x series. > My budget allows me to get a new graphics card. The question is which > one. VTK is a scientiic vizalization tool. Demands there are not necessarily the same as for computer games. And game playing is the driving force behind present consumer cards. I am not competent enough to judge if your bottle neck is due to bad drivers or due to architectural limits of present cards, perhaps you need to buy one of the professional cards, perhaps a GeForce is good enough. (I hope to be able to judge that in a few weeks, as I am working again in a scientific field with 3d vizualization needs since short) How does the Win32 version of your card's drivers and the Win32 version of VTK look in comparison? > Is there anything better to go for when we are talking about pc > hardware? I am sure you can buy more expensive cards. It will depend on the particular needs of your application if you really need such a card, or gamer card is enough.
