I believe you can only use the X Shared Memory Extension
when the client and the X Server are on the same host.
The code could be modified to check for this and not use
the shared memory extension when running remotely, as xanim
does.

  | I set DISPLAY to a remote machine (wanna see who's in my office right
  | now :). the xfqcam window appears on the machine I set the DISPLAY
for
  | but immediately disappears with the following:
  |
  | blues> xfqcam
  | X Error of failed request: BadAccess (attempt to access private
resource denied)
  | Major opcode of failed request: 129 (MIT-SHM)
  | Minor opcode of failed request: 1 (X_ShmAttach)
  | Serial number of failed request: 547
  | Current serial number in output stream: 549
  | blues>
  |
  | xfqcam is running fine locally on the target machine .
  | Any clues?
