Since you deleted all the context I can't be sure I am
answering the right question :-(.

But if this was about ``echo */*/work| xargs rm -r''
then the answer is:
	I should have said:
		``cd /usr/ports; echo */*/work | xargs rm -r''

to eliminate your question :-)
