Thanks for any > information you can provide :) There is no port of FreeBSD to mips and surely not the Onyx2. NetBSD has a sgimips port for SGI IP22/IP32 workstations, but the IP27 machines (Origin 2k, Onyx2) are _very_ different from those and based on a NUMA architecture. The Linux mips64 ports support the IP27 without the Onyx Graphics hardware if you really want a non-SGI OS, but I think IRIX is still the best choice..
