I am always interested in making our I've got a PERC 3/DCL in service on a Dell 1550 with 3 Ultra160 drives in RAID 5 configuration. The machine serves as a backup mail spool. Last week, it had 6000+ messages in the spool (Postfix mail server) and a "mailq" command ran as fast as it could spit the data to the screen. "mailq|tail" took just a few seconds. I'm absolutely amazed at the speed of this setup, considering all the warnings I read about using RAID5 mail spools. -- =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Vivek Khera, Ph.D. Khera Communications, Inc.
