Who said anything about take-home pay?  If I bill $100 an hour, I'm lucky to be
able to keep $20-$30 an hour after taxes and expenses.  It's hard to even break
even at that rate.

But FreeBSD will _not_ do the job just as well or better.  And you don't
necessarily need to learn a lot about a router just to plug it in and run with
it.  I got mine running in a couple of minutes.
