Hmm..
I've this card (3Com 3c905-TX) on two machines, one p2 and one k6-2
And it always worked fine. The average load that I put on them is minimal,
but there are some peaks sometimes, and it works well.
Reading the source points that commenting out #define XL_USEIOSPACE
will make it use mmaped io which may be faster.
On the other hand, the fxp0 is a fine card too. We use four of them on
some firewall.
