Yesterday, I did a make world, then recompiled my -stable kernel, and rebooted. After shutdown to reboot, I replaced the cpu (p5-166/mmx with a k6-233) and removed an unused card. It booted fine, and I started another make world to test. About ~1.5 hours into the build, the machine locked up (I was in X, it probably dropped to the debugger). I set the memory timings the next speed slower (assuming the p5->k6 may have affected something there), and started another make world (in text mode). After a couple hours, I returned to see the progress, and found "reboot after panic: free vnode isn't" and the normal boot sequence. I am about to reboot the old kernel and see if that works better. I am curious if the k6 might possibly be the culprit? -- Zach Heilig -- zach@gaffaneys.com Real Programs don't use shared text. Otherwise, how can they use functions for scratch space after they are finished calling them?
