Yes, kdump is what does the translation.  I actually said that in one draft
of the message, but I am spending my days in class this week, and I only had
a few minutes to write that message :).

The information is available at the time the process is running; procfs has
it in the pseudo-file etype.  (I'm planning on making truss use that.)
