There's a little extra overhead in make.conf, probably not significant. And the disk space used for the cache. Thanks for a the info Warren, I'll see about putting it in production, I'd love saving some time when updating boxes. Besides, smaller update times (as in, human time spent) will help me defend fbsd against debian kfreebsd :/
